About Kostavo
Kostavo is a governance, cost-optimisation, and automation platform for organisations running Databricks at scale. We make it simple to optimise costs, enforce access policies, and automate operational tasks across every workspace.
We built Kostavo from our own experience working hands-on with customers running 10+ Databricks workspaces. The same story kept repeating: teams had powerful compute at their fingertips, but no easy way to catch problems before they became expensive surprises.
Kostavo was incorporated in 2026 to prevent exactly these situations, giving teams the visibility and automated policies to catch problems while they are still small.
Situations we ran into, and built Kostavo to prevent.
A Databricks default S-tier serverless warehouse, left running close to 24/7 for streaming data. The team had never changed the default size. It just kept running.
Rightsized within a dayA model serving endpoint with provisioned throughput enabled during development, not even a PoC. Potentially thousands of euros a month, quietly accumulating for five days.
Ran 5 days before caughtA job created during a Databricks training with hourly triggers on a warehouse-backed dummy query. Triggers were never disabled after the training, and kept firing for weeks in a workspace everyone assumed was dormant.
Noticed weeks laterEvery developer had spun up their own Databricks App. Multiple were still active well after hours, not for development, not for demos. No one had visibility across the team.
